Partial Dentures

These are used to replace missing teeth. An alternative may be a bridge. A partial denture is a plate with a number of false teeth on it. It may be all plastic or a mixture of plastic and metal.

Plastic dentures are less expensive to make but unless they are designed very carefully they may damage the remaining teeth.

Metal framed dentures are made of an alloy of chrome and cobalt and are much stronger. They are lighter to wear and can be supported by the natural teeth so helping avoid damage to the gums and to remaining natural teeth. Although the base is metal, they have gum coloured plastic and natural looking teeth fixed to them. They are more expensive than plastic ones.

We can help you choose the correct type of denture and will be guided by your remaining natural teeth.

Dentures can be provided both privately and on the NHS. Both will be made to the same high standards, however by asking for your denture to be made privately we can use a higher standard of material which will give a better aesthetic result.
